Mieke Groeninck has a master's degree in History, European studies, and Journalism. She is a doctor in Social and Cultural Anthropology.

Her doctoral dissertation focused on the role of islamic knowledge transmission for adults in mosques and Moroccan institutes in Brussels.

Staring september 2017 she is a researcher on the project 'Supporting resilience in parents and children of refugee families'.
